Pastor Crawford is a native of Gastonia, North Carolina. After graduating from high school and receiving a vocational diploma from Gaston Collage, he served in the United States Marine Corps.

He was licensed to preach the Gospel in December 1997 and was ordained a Baptist minister by Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Bowling Green, South Carolina and the Sandy River Baptist Association (Upper Division) in November 1999. Pastor Crawford graduated Summa Cum Laude from Shaw University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion and Philosophy; he received, with honors, his Master of Divinity degree, with a concentration in homiletics, from Shaw University Divinity School, Raleigh, North Carolina. His Doctor of Ministry degree was earned from the M. Christopher White School of Divinity, Gardner-Webb University, Boiling Springs, North Carolina.

Robert Crawford has served the members of Bethel Baptist Church of Rock Hill, South Carolina, as their pastor since 2004. He also serves as assistant dean and an institute class instructor of the Sandy River Baptist Association (Upper Division) Congress of Christian Education.
